How to Setup Email using Netscape Communicator  (Netscape Navigator 4.x)

This document will help the Softecsys dialup user configure their Netscape software to be able to receive email via ther Softecsys email account. However, this document will not serve as any kind of advanced tutorial.

Open your Netscape browser. Click on the EDIT menu and choose Preferences

Click the + next to Mail and Groups heading to expand the Mail and Groups menu. These are the areas where all email preferences are set. We will show how to set the Mail Server properties so you will be able to send and receive your email through your Softecsys email account. The other sub heading menu's purposes are as follows;
                                                Identity: Set user attributes that are displayed to the receiver of email                                                   you send. You can specify your name, organization, etc.
                                                Messages: Lets you configure outgoing mail message properties.
                                                Mail Server: Details below
                                                Groups Server: Lets you configure your Newsgroup settings
                                                Directory: Chooses directories for searching addresses.

Choose Mail Server menu.

In the following configuration fields, put the following information.

Mail Server User name: In this field, enter your Softec Systems account user name.
Outgoing mail [SMTP] server: In this field put the mail server name; mail.softecsys.net
Incoming Mail server: In this field put the mail server name; mail.softecsys.net

Always remember to leave Mail Server type settings as the default settings. POP3 should be checked, and Leave messages on server after retrieval, should not be checked.

Click OK, now check your mail. You should be able to send and receive email with your new Softec Systems email account.
